Somerset City Council has followed Pulaski Fiscal Court in supporting a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet application for a grant that would add funding for improvements to Ky. 461 and its intersection with Ky. 80.
Councilors unanimously passed a resolution in support of the application which seeks $25 million in federal funding. That money would be added to the $22 million already earmarked by state legislators in the six-year highway plan.
The Ky 461/Ky. 80 interchange has been a high-traffic, accident-prone area for years, one that council members have brought up from time to time, mainly being in agreement that changes are needed..
